Spending Habits Keeping You Broke & Vacationless

💰 Welcome or welcome back to the Weekly Oracle

This is A Tale of Two Friends… and a Cruise to New Zealand

Two friends.

Same income.

Same bills.

Same desire to travel.

One day, they talk about taking a cruise to New Zealand together.

Both want the trip.

But their money habits tell two different stories.

One friend says she can’t afford vacations.

But somehow, she always has money for:

☕ coffee runs

📦 Amazon packages

🛍️ Target “quick stops”

💳 little splurges that “don’t really count”

None of it feels like a big deal.

That’s the problem.

Because $40 a day doesn’t stay $40 a day.

It turns into:

$280 a week

$1,200 a month

$14,600 a year

Then comes the side-eye and excuses.

“Must be nice.”

“I wish I could travel.”

“Some people just have it easier.”

But the second friend has the same income.

She just made a different choice.

Instead of letting $40 a day disappear on things she won’t even remember next month, she puts it into a vacation fund.

Not because she’s better.

Not because she’s privileged.

Not because she has extra money.

But because she decided she wanted New Zealand (delayed gratification) more than random spending (instant gratification).

In that same year, that money paid for her cruise to New Zealand.

And not just the cruise.

It paid for the kind of plane seat that comes with:

✈️ lounge access

⚡ quicker security screening

🥂 delicious food and drinks

🛏️ a bed to sleep in on the 15-hour flight

And here’s the part you really need to hear:

New Zealand isn’t her one big trip.

She goes on vacation every year.

Because this isn’t about luck.

It’s about habits.

It’s about priorities.

It’s about what your daily choices are quietly paying for.

Same income.

Different habits.

Different priorities.

Different outcome.

🛍️ One friend keeps buying little hits of convenience.

🏝️ The other keeps buying experiences, memories, rest, and relaxation throughout the entire vacation.

Neither one is a bad choice.

But different choices DO get different results.
